Rich crimson and deep burgundy fill the upper half of the canvas,  dense, layered, the colour of wine held to firelight. Below, warm amber and golden ochre glow with the intensity of embers. A dark band of raw umber separates the two fields, not as a border but as a breath - the moment between heat and light. The brushwork is horizontal and expressive throughout, each field built in layered strokes that give the surface depth and life.
